Zone & District Unification
Progressing our sport
Why Zone and District Unification?
Following the survey from Bowls NSW seeking feedback regarding Zone & District unification:
+2,000 members responded;
89% of members agreed to take this path;
We need to reduce the barriers to our sport; and,
We need to achieve this in partnership with you.
You can find the detailed survey results here
What needs addressing?
There are many areas we need to address within this process. Below is a non-exhaustive list of items which we need to review and determine:
The legal process of dissolving Zones and Districts - this information is available on this website. Check out the ‘News’ section for more information.
The legal process of establishing regions and the legal documents to govern these regions - this information has been shared and is available on this site.
The legal frameworks i.e. Incorporations vs. Associations - this is complete.
Executive / Committee Structures and Club Delegate requirements - this is complete and announced in the Region Constitutions available on this website.
The people side of things i.e. what happens to our current and incredible Zone / District volunteers - this is being addresses.
How will Regions be named - names are announced and are available under the ‘Regions’ tab on this site.
What will the competition boundaries look like? Final versions are available on this site.
Guidelines and Policies - Operational, Expenditure, Reporting, Affiliation Fees etc. This is work in progress.
The adoption and uniformity of technology - through websites and the use of Xero cloud based accountancy technology.
Competition delivery requirements i.e. the requirement for geographical (sectional) draws to accommodate for travel
The role of regions in youth, female and para-sport participation
How do we get there?
In consultation with you, our Zones, Districts, Clubs and members.
Our Zone & District unification committee meets weekly and has done so since July 2023.
Competition boundaries have been set for the 2024-25 calendar and have been done so through a large amount of consultation across the State.
16 new competition Regions have been announced. These are listed on this website under the ‘Regions’ tab up the top.
We are creating 16 new Regional Bowls Associations. These Associations will take the place of the 16 Zones and 40 Districts currently in operation and will come into effect from 1 July 2024.
